William Alan Maschmeyer

After completing high school, William - who is better known as Bill - attended Purdue University in West Lafayette to complete his bachelor's degree in Journalism. The craft of writing has served as a wonderful asset in crafting legal pleadings and arguments. While attending Purdue University, Bill met his future wife Nancy at Indiana Central. The couple married in 1983.  In 1985, Bill received his J.D. from the Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis.

Following law school, Bill worked as the Deputy Attorney General under Lindley Pearson, gaining priceless experience for both his law career and future political aspirations. He also opened a solo practice and rented an office from the senior Haggerty partners. After noticing Bill's work ethic, Jay B. Haggerty recruited Bill to become a partner in the law firm. The firm became Haggerty, Haggerty and Maschmeyer in 1987.

Bill continues to have a positive impact on his community. He is a life-long member of the Friedens United Church of Christ and served on the board for several years. Bill has been a Republican Precinct Committeeman and is an Eagle Scout.  He currently serves his third term as an elected member of the Franklin Community School Corporation School Board and Central-9 Career Center Board.

To relax, Bill spends time in his garden and is also an avid fisherman. He has also coached youth basketball, soccer and softball. In fact, both Bill and his wife Nancy enjoyed playing softball for many years. Their son Criag is a student at Ball State University where he is an honors Miller Business Scholar.

William A.
