Elizabeth Marie Smith

We hired this attorney 9 months ago for a charge my husband acquired and he's now been incarcerated for two weeks on a warrant for failing to appear. Miss smith should have been at that court hearing in his stead. She has not returned a single.one of my daily calls over the last 14 days and if I'm ev...er able to get a hold of anyone in her office, I'll be demanding my money back. I've hired a new attorney next w to handle the case because this one obviously couldn't care less about her client if she tried. I'd give her 0/5 stars of I could. A total waste of money.

Elizabeth is seldom in the office or typically "on the other line". Rarely or NEVER returns phone calls as promised by her Assistant after message is given. Her secretary/assistant incapable of helping (doesn't know simple LAW or it's language, terms or procedures). Does not identify business when a...nswering phone on SPEAKER (confidentiality concern), or answer the phone at all during business hours. Very poor communication between Counselor and Assistant. Elizabeth did NOT act on several pieces of Exculpatory Evidence or was too lazy to act on it at all (6th Amendment right). One gets the feeling she is competently burdened by representing indigent clients, appointed by the court, with lackadaisical posturing (6th amendment). Refused to submit/or ask the courts for lab DNA testing on "evidence". Refused to follow up on fictitious written police report with incorrect dates and times with police not following SOPs or adhering to a warrant (witnesses can attest to this but never contacted or followed up on). AGAIN, 6th Amendment infringement!! Makes one wonder if part of the alleged Morgan County's judicial/police corruption? Disheveled appearance, does not make eye contact or connect with client, distracted (use of cell phone during initial interview), not professional attire for position/stature nor does/did she DEMONstrate common sense approach or sense of thinking. False advertising on business card about going to the jail multiple times a week to visit her clients (waited 3 weeks for her to make appearance). If an attorney who is also a Public Defender is not willing to work for ALL clients equally without impartiality or prejudice, then they no longer need to practice. I will be filing official complaint with the Indiana Barr Association for censure.

I hired Elizabeth Smith, attorney-at-law, for my son who got into some pretty deep trouble. I met her the week I called after someone recommended her. She made sure the judge knew that my son had a drug problem (and wasn't what he looked like on paper). Some charges couldn't be dropped, but it tu...rned out much better than what the public defender said he would get. Elizabeth let the judge see that my son worked full time and could turn his life around to where it used to be. I'm so very thankful to this attorney. It's a mother's worst nightmare thinking they are going to lock your child up for many years. This attorney fought hard against the prosecutor. I highly recommend Elizabeth Smith, if you need a good aggressive attorney!
