Cara has focused her entire career on criminal defense. As an undergraduate student at Indiana University, Cara majored in Criminal Justice. As a graduate student, Cara studied Criminology before deciding to attend law school. At the Indiana University School of Law — Indianapolis, Cara was a member of the Indiana Law Review, was named to the Order of Barristers in the school’s moot court competition, received an award for her dedication to pro bono service, and was president of the Law Students Against Capital Punishment. She graduated summa cum laude.

Cara was court appointed to my Chins Appeal case. Upon learning this I immediately reached out to her and let her know I am available to discuss the case anytime and asked if she needed anything from me. Appeals can be frustrating for clients because the process does not allow for anything outside the four corners of the record to be brought into the appeal. So appellate attorneys are stuck working with the facts and evidence that were presented below. Also, only issues that were raised below and preserved for the appeal can be raised. I communicated with you throughout the appeal. I sent you an introductory letter with a copy of the notice of appeal, as well as a letter with my appellate brief, a letter with the opposing counsel's appellate brief, and a letter with the decision from the Court of Appeals, along with information on next steps. This is my customary practice for all appellate clients. I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.
