I had high hopes when I hired Ms. Trent. She was recommended to me by a high school classmate, and the case should have been an easy one. It was an out-and-out false accusation, and I had ample evidence to support my innocence. She dragged it out for more than a year, though, and ended up missing a c...ourt date, which meant that I was arrested in front of my young children and had to spend the night in jail. She blamed her paralegal, which pretty much says it all. She eventually talked me into accepting a plea deal--again, for something I did not do--because she wasn't sure if she could win. Now, I realize I'm not a lawyer, but my evidence was cut-and-dry. Even though I initially insisted that I wanted to take it to trial, she planted enough doubt in my mind, especially with the memory of my night in jail still fresh in my mind, that I relented. I was charged a low fee ($750), and even though this is pure speculation, I feel that she only did $750 worth of work, and not a minute more. Throughout the time she supposedly worked on my case, she rarely returned my phone calls, and she didn't seem to take any initiative whatsoever on my case.
