Courtney was born in Columbus, Ohio. She attended the Columbus School for Girls, graduating in 1989 with honors. Courtney went on to graduate Miami University in 1993. She graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Finance. Upon completing her college degree, she attended Capital University Law School. At the same time, she worked as a legal assistant at Larrimer & Larrimer, LLC. Courtney graduated Capital University Law School in 1996 and began working full time at Larrimer & Larrimer, LLC as an attorney.
