Robert enjoys helping people solve problems. It's what drives him. He takes his cases (but not himself) seriously, because people need help and humanity. He likes to have fun and he likes to win. That's what drove him to become captain of his high school basketball and soccer teams, serve as senior class president, and go on to excel and hold leadership positions in college, law school, and local government. It's why he has enjoyed coaching his kids' teams as well.

Robert began his career at Faruki Ireland Cox Rhinehart & Dusing PLL, a national complex commercial litigation firm in Dayton. Since 2005, he has litigated some of the largest cases in the region including employment and civil rights, intellectual property, securities, antitrust, privacy law, class actions, medical malpractice and personal injury, divorce and domestic relations, and criminal defense, both for individuals and some of the region and the world's largest companies. He has also handled transactional matters, performing due diligence, setting up corporations, drafting and implementing contracts, and negotiating business deals.

He combines years of experience representing individuals and companies in high-stakes complex litigation for both plaintiffs and defendants, along with a decade of experience as a business, legal, and technology consultant for companies including LexisNexis, Robert Half International (Legal Division), Ricoh, serving law firms from the smallest to the world's largest. He founded and has run Gurry Law, LLC & Consulting for three years.

Robert applies an integrative approach to serve the whole modern client. His practice spans three broad categories: (1) general practice for individuals, encompassing a myriad of areas; (2) business law; and (3) civil litigation. He also assists businesses and law firms as a consultant.

Clients are not always aware that some 90 per cent of the arguments an attorney will ever make on their behalf—both in court and to other parties—are first, foremost, and often only, in writing. This is why Robert has refined the art and science of communicating both verbally and in writing, persuasively, creatively, and effectively. On a daily basis, he marshals legal expertise and the English language and takes them into battle to fight for and achieve superior results for his clients.

Robert excelled in UDSL's renown three-year legal research and writing program. He also wrote, edited, and published on law review, and won the Cohen Excellence in Legal Writing award for publishing a law review article on constitutional protections in jury selection. He performed thousands of hours of research and writing in state and federal courts as a complex litigation associate, and as an extern for a Federal Magistrate Judge.

Robert is a graduate of Lee University (1999) with highest honors (summa cum laude) and the University of Dayton School of Law, with honors (cum laude). While earning his Juris Doctorate, Robert served as President and Vice President of student leadership organizations including helping co-found the Student Volunteer Legal Project (SVLP) to provide pro bono legal services in the community. He received the SVLP Founders’ Award in 2005 for his “dedication to the spirit of Pro Bono services.”
