Plaintiff Joyce Bigmall was seriously injured in a wreck with a vehicle driven by an employee of Golden Doughnuts Enterprises, Inc. The insurance company refused to accept responsibility even though p ... aramedics at the scene of the wreck said the donut company driver was intoxicated by alcohol. The insurance company knew the Plaintiff had an 8-year life expectancy and tried to wear her down by delaying the trial 7 times. The case finally came to trial 4.5 years after the wreck. By that time, the Plaintiff was in Year 9 of her 8-year life expectancy---she had outlived her life expectancy by one year. The insurance company forced her to sue them and spend half her life-expectancy fighting them. The jury heard the evidence and awarded full compensation of over $7 million. The verdict was 145X the Plaintiff's medical bills, or "special damages."

After a one-week trial, the jury returned a verdict of $150,000. Client had been falsely arrested by bail bonding company. Company sent bounty hunters to client's home at 5:00 AM in the morning on a Saturday. Owner of the company came into the home and tore the covers off client, had her handcuffed, and took her to the Muscogee County Jail. She then spent 30 minutes in custody before being let go. At trial, the bonding company blamed the bounty hunter who was an independent contractor. The 12-person jury awarded $150,000.00.
