Jimmy Calhoun graduated from Miami University in 2008 with a double Major in History and Black World Studies. While attending Miami University, he was a member of the football team. Upon graduating from Miami, he attended the University of Dayton, School of Law in 2012.

Jimmy began his career at the Montgomery County Public Defenders office in Dayton  Ohio. Municipal Court, where he defended hundreds of clients on a variety of misdemeanor and felony cases. He had the privilege of representing clients in numerous jury trials and argued in front of the 2nd District Court of appeals. Jimmy is a member of the Dayton Bar Association where he is the Co-Chair of the Young Lawyers Division and is also a member of the Board of Trustees at Daymont Behavioral Health Center.

In January 2016, Jimmy accepted a position with the distinguished law firm Flanagan, Lieberman, Hoffman, and Swaim. Where he spent five years under the guidance of a legend in criminal defense Mr. Pat Flanagan. He also was able to learn from another pivitol pillar of the Dayton Community, Dennis Lieberman. Working close with the aforementioned, Jimmy was able to co counsel a murder case, as well has a number of cases in federal court. Furthermore, his own practice grew to something that was admired by other members of the firm. He knows without a doubt the knowledge provided by his mentors are the exact reason he knew he could make it on his own. SO in 2020 Jimmy decided it was time to start his own firm and run it how he sees fit. He is truly humbled by the years spent at Flanagan, LIeberman, Hoffman and Swaim but it was time to start a new chapter in his life.

Jimmy is truly passionate about defending clients in the courtroom. His competitive nature that developed on the gridiron has now transitioned into the courtroom. His tenacity, work ethic, and competitive edge help him succeed on behalf of his clients. He strives to seek justice in order to ensure that the fundamental principles of the Constitution are preserved.

Very disappointing Lawyer!!!
I would not recommend Jimmy Calhoun as a lawyer to anyone! He never responds to emails text, phone calls. He doesn’t even take the time to visit a client in jail who he is representing to talk about his case before a trial. Every time I tried to reach him he had an excuse. You could leave him a message, and it would take him weeks to get back sometimes longer!!! Please do not waste your time or your money on him.

Terrible experience.
My husband and I hired Jimmy for my husbands custody case. Jimmy lied about filing time sensitive paperwork with the court multiple times which caused problems with our case and stretched it out considerably. He gave my husband bad legal advice multiple times, and incorrect information multiple times. He took almost $2,000 from us, filed one paper, showed up to one conference, and that’s it. He is impossible to get ahold of. We had to eventually call and schedule a meeting under a fake name just so we could fire him as a lawyer and get new representation. There’s a reason why he’s been at 3 or four different law firms in the past couple years. If I could do it again I’d hire literally anyone else.
