While in law school, John was a member of the Editorial Board of the Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution, publishing the article: “The Ohio Supreme Court Constricts the Definition of “Arbitration” in Schaeffer v. Allstate Ins. Co., 9 Ohio St. J. on Dip. Res. 181 (1993). In addition, he served as past member of the Board of Directors of the Ohio State College of Law Public Interest Law Foundation (1991-1994).
John has a B.A. Degree from the University of Notre Dame where he graduated magna cum laude, and was recognized as a Notre Dame Scholar. From 1994-1996 John Served as judicial law clerk to Chief Judge Robert L. Miller, Jr. of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana in South Bend, Indiana.
He is a member of the American, Ohio, Stark County, and Tuscarawas County Bar Associations, and was selected to serve as a Mentor for the Ohio Supreme Court’s Lawyer-to-Lawyer Mentoring Program.
John is extremely involved in community activities. He is an Inaugural Board Member of the American Red Cross Stark County Regional Chapter Regional Advisory Council, is an eleven-year Board Member of the American Red Cross, Muskingum Lakes Chapter, serving as past Chairman of the Board (2002-2005), an Executive Committee member, and a member of the 2008 Capital Campaign Steering Committee. He also serves on the advisory committee for the Eastern Ohio Automatic External Defibrillator Initiative. He currently serves as Vice President of the St. Joseph School Board, is a Board Member of the Tuscarawas County Law Library Association, is a member of the Dover St. Joseph Knights of Columbus, serving as Advocate and Church Committee Chairman, and is a member of the Parish Councel of St. Joseph Church in Dover,
