Troy David Barnett

I am a life long resident of the Mahoning Valley. I was born in Youngstown, Ohio, attended Girard City Schools and graduated from Girard High School in 1988. I attended Youngstown State University on a Youngstown State University Foundation Scholarship and graduated Magna Cum Laude, in 1993, with a degree in psychology and a minor in criminal justice. While at Youngstown State University, I was named to Golden Key National Honor Society and was routinely on the Dean’s List. After graduating from college, I accepted employment in sales and enrolled in law school at The University of Akron, School of Law. I attended the night program at the University of Akron, School of Law and held full-time employment during the day.

Upon graduation from law school, in May 2000, I sat for and passed the Ohio Bar Examination. I accepted employment with a law firm in East Liverpool, Ohio and engaged in the general practice of law, from December 2000 to December 2010. During my time practicing law, I had many notable cases and appellate decisions. Further, I was named to the list of “Rising Stars”, by Ohio Super Lawyers Magazine, and awarded the level of distinction of “Advocate of Trial Advocacy”, by the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, National College of Advocacy. In December 2010, I was honored to accept appointment as a juvenile and probate court magistrate, and I served on the court until December 2014. During my time on the court, I presided over countless abuse, neglect and dependency cases; delinquency and unruly cases; private custody; visitation; juvenile traffic; child support and contempt actions.

During 2015, I fulfilled a life long dream and opened my own law office.
