Very Disappointing Legal Service

Divorce is already an emotionally draining, high-stress experience. The last thing anyone needs is a lawyer who exploits that vulnerability. I retained Brittany Baron for my divorce and was billed nearly $15,000 in just over two months despite having no real property, high-value assets, or trial. By ...comparison, my husband’s attorney charged $3,500 for five months of work on the same case with a similar hourly rate. For just month of May, he billed me nearly $8,000. At my very first consultation with Brittany Baron, she name-dropped Joseph Stafford, claiming that he only cares about money and doesn’t care about you or the children. She bragged about beating him in a grandparent custody case and positioned herself as the more ethical, affordable alternative. Beyond the excessive billing, I experienced unprofessional conduct. I was excluded from key decisions about my children’s visitation schedule, overheard paralegal coaching Ms. Baron during a call, and even billed for work performed after I requested dismissal of my case. When I expressed legitimate concerns about the visitation schedule, specifically that it was completely out of sync with the children's pre-existing school hours and therapy times, Brittany Baron responded with blatant disrespect, saying, 'You think everyone is against you.' This was not only dismissive, it was deeply unprofessional and rude. She had already had a conference with the GAL, the judge, and opposing counsel before the draft was even shared with me, yet at no point did she ask about the children’s actual schedules or logistics. The proposed visitation times were not just unreasonable but also impossible to follow. When I raised these valid concerns, she deflected all responsibility and blamed the GAL. She lacks merit. She lacks integrity, and she lacks the professionalism. This is exactly why family law has such a bad reputation — even among lawyers (Tell me if I am wrong). If you're looking for a divorce attorney, stay far away. Protect your finances and your emotions. I REPEAT. DO NOT hire her.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
