Jessica Withrow Jump

Ms. Jump was court appointed Nov 2023 - April 2025, but that's all you seem to get when CPS is involved. I tried, and am still trying (my case is currently in appeals) to hire proper counsel, but it seems that no attorney wants to touch a CPS case, so you have to go with court appointed counsel. I wa...s not going to leave a review, because most of the reviews are spot on, but could be viewed as 'outdated'. Ms. Jump has minimal, at best, communication. She asked to meet me one, 1, time to go over case material and the discovery. Never happened. Then I asked for a copy, and was told she is not allowed to give me copies. I recently went to the courthouse and got copies of everything, without an attorney request, which leaves me question why she couldn't give me a copy of my case file. She, and everyone else that was close to us, sided with CPS, telling me to "just do what they want." Poor courtroom performance. When I could finally prove I am stable, it was too late to submit the information to the court for evidence. She asked me for the documents in the morning right before court, of course it's too late. Needless to say, I went to court blind and empty handed. Watched as they lied about my children, how I was neglecting them (you should have seen them when they were taken, they were far from neglected), my husband and I, our families, and our lifestyle, again, with minimal at best cross-examination. Then her questions to me on the stand were very generic, non-specific, and none of the questioning went prior to COVID, when we were not "gutter poor." Then had to defend myself against the states attorney, whom I believe has a conflict of interest, answering "yes or no" questions, when most answers are not as simple as "yes or no." Everyone in the courtroom spoke to each other as if the were friends, even made plans for lunch and the upcoming weekend. To sum up, very poor communication (which includes reading messages), poor courtroom demeanor, and acts more like an advocate for CPS than her client. I'm glad I did not pay her, although she was willing to accept, and I am glad she does not do appeals. But my appeals attorney, who is also court appointed, is proving to be much of the same, so I search.

She is representing my ex for custody. She is a liar and said I would see my daughter, her client, my ex is keeping and stealing my kid. This woman went along with everything children’s services said , thought , and did while representing me. She didn’t subpoena any of my witnesses, she left me with a halfway done visitation schedule with someone that stopped bring my child to see me and was ultimately removed from this persons house ...for abuse . And I asked for an appeal, she confirmed she filed for one and since it’s Covid the courts are running slow and look its2024 and I haven’t received anything yet… My son doesn’t know who I am , he’s traumatized, because I went to jail, the person didn’t come to court because they lied . The charges were dropped and children’s service’s charged me with neglect. This system is so broken . There should be a law against what she did to my son and I.

I think about this case a lot, and it is very upsetting. Jessica didn't follow through on things in making sure agreements were signed prior to a case being dismissed. Then when it came time to negotiate the custody part leverage was lost and I came out behind. It really affected my relationship with... my son for a long time. Jessica wasn't really concerned with me as her client, and didn't do a very good job advocating. She ended up coming off as extremely passive. When we had to go back to court a year later Jessica was on maternity leave and it took a long time to get a response back. Overall, I wouldn't consider her competent or effective.
