The Probate Court has jurisdiction over a decedent's estate and any assets owned individually at death. Wills, certain types of Trusts, Guardianship proceedings, and disputes or lawsuits related to these areas, are all handled at Probate Court.

Many varieties of Trusts exist; often used to achieve certain treatment of assets, or to accomplish important goals of a client or family, like asset protection, probate avoidance, or future management of assets for beneficiaries needing oversight.
