Matthew D. Besser focuses his practice on employment discrimination and civil rights. He has experience in all aspects of litigation, from negotiation through trial and final appellate review. Having worked for several years at a large law firm representing corporate defendants in employment disputes, he is able to offer a unique perspective to plaintiffs with employment-related claims. Besser also has significant experience as an appellate advocate, authoring many briefs and arguing several cases before the Ohio and federal courts of appeal, and teaching appellate advocacy at Case Western Reserve University School of Law.

Besser graduated summa cum laude from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where he received awards for the top grade in Trial Advocacy, Civil Litigation, Disability Discrimination, and Evidence. He also received the Donald S. Teller Memorial Award for the student note contributing most significantly to The Ohio State Law Journal. After law school, Besser served as Law Clerk to Judge Richard L. Nygaard on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Excellent Job with my case

I reached out to Matt and his work with my case was superb, very thorough and prompt. I appreciate his approach. He was very helpful with instructing me on what was required of me for the case. My constitutional rights were protected and upheld thanks to this attorney.

Wrongful Termination Case

When I was unexpectedly terminated from a management position last year I was devastated. He brought home a win and gave me my life back.

Matt represented me in an employment discrimination claim. Throughout his representation he was professional and responsive. His pragmatic litigation approach and his incredible knowledge of employment law optimally positioned us for an amazing result - which he and his partner got. Very thorough and helpfull

Very Positive Experience

From my initial interview to the final settlement Mr. Besser was always a spot of legal perfection. During the year and a half of legal proceedings he covered all matters with the greatest of detail. ALL correspondence were responded to with complete information and in a way that i could understand. His analysis of all the issues involved was absolute perfection. Wonderful firm to work with

Outstanding advocate in wrongful termination

Mr. Besser was able to provide me with superb counseling in my wrongful termination case. He's a true professional and treated me and my concerns with great respect. He provided a clear assessment of the pros and cons of his legal strategy so that I fully understood his approach. Additionally, he was an excellent communicator. He emailed and called me frequently and there were no delays in returning my calls. As a result of his strong advocacy, I received a very favorable settlement.
