Excellent Work

Joy has been our family attorney for over 20 years. We have turned to her several times and have felt her knowledge has saved us over and over. She is professional and kind at the same time. I cannot recommend Joy Savren strongly enough.

Do not retain her!

Save your money, frustration, and time and do not retain Joy. She DOES NOT advocate on your behalf, nor your children. She showed up for court and sent bills, that's it. It was mind blowing that she truly did nothing I asked...shared parenting, child support, or request the marital home. She said tha...t I should just sell the home, no child support if the children spend close to equal time at both homes, and just did nothing regarding a parental plan. She is a wreck. When I asked to be in the courtroom b/c I just couldn't understand how she was representing me, she replied that I should just fire her and get another attorney. She is a hot mess. Now, I pay child support and I am fighting to get some sort of parental plan and there are stipulations to getting my turn to try and refinance the home. The opposing council wasn't even a family law attorney and he did a better job than she did, hands down. She looked like a deer in head lights and got stressed very easily. Not too mention how super slow she speaks and does anything else while charging for her time. AWEFUL!!!

A Poor Advocate

Joy Savren handled my divorce case. Every step of the way she was outmanuevered by the opposing attorney. She served my ex-wife late and by mail. The opposing attorney served me first and in person. The consequence of this is that the case was tried in a location disadvantageous to me. She made no ef...fort to argue in my favor for custody. In fact, my ex-wife was facing domestic violence charges. She did not even mention this to the court. She came to trial on three occassions dressed like she was going to the park for a picnic. On several occassions she refused to make arguments to the court because the judge might be "angry" at the request. On one occassion I had to force her to make what was a very reasonable request. When she finally made the request of the court, it was granted. She was not a good advocate at all. After six months and $6,000 my case ended with everything my ex-wife was pushing to receive including full (rather than shared) custody. I could have capitulated to her whims in the beginning and saved myself the attorney fees. Joy was very good at "managing" my case. She told me what time to appear in court, what my ex-wife was likely to do, how the judge might feel, etc. She was very poor at trying my case and advocating on my behalf.

Family lawyer | Nov 24

Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community

"I endorse this lawyer. I have known Joy for many years. I refer people who contact me with a family law matter to Joy. This is a difficult area of law and the process can be difficult for clients. Joy is conscientious and responsive to her clients. She is a good lawyer and that's my primary reason for recommending her to clients seeking representation in areas where I do not practice."
