Going through the immigration process, the realization strikes that your lawyer is your strongest support in navigating through a very difficult system but and this is a big "but", also the one with the most disastrous consequences if he or she is less than up to the task. Mr Karp is pleasant and... probably well informed. His handling of my case was competent as far as his efforts went. The problem is that he forgot about my paperwork for a few months. As I was going through the process for the first time, I had no idea about the timelines involved. When I did not hear from him, I assumed that the paperwork was with INS. I realized my mistake a few months later. You would assume that you are paying for due diligence but I later learned that people who dealt with him characterized him as "good" but needing "constant reminders". That does not work for me. If that does not faze you, he is probably not the worst choice out there. A delay at any point in the process has repercussions that last many years. I would not recommend him.
