Accused of rape
N/AOUTCOME: Charges were never filed
Young man contacted me. Police wanted to interview him. He had visited a female friend in her apartment and now she was accusing him of rape. Deciding whether to go to police interviews is tricky. I ... ts a high wire act which depends on the client, the investigating officer and the evidence. We discussed how the interview would proceed, what he could and couldn't say and when to just be quiet. We attended the interview and the investigator became frustrated. He left the room and returned with a tough guy attitude. He got in my client's face and told him he was lying. With that I stood up and informed the investigator the interview was over. My client had been perfect, answered all the questions as instructed, and was not drawn into any Reid Technique tricks. We left the interview believing we had effectively rebutted the allegations.
