I’m not one to normally post reviews. However, after reading the recent review for James I felt it important to post my dealings with James for the better part of the past 9+ years. There has NEVER been a time I didn’t trust James or felt he was taking advantage of the situation. James had the patien...ce of a saint as he watched my ex-wife hire and fire over 9 attorneys. Unfortunately there are numerous attorneys who will thrive on your personal “misfortunes”. With James, he doesn’t look at dollar signs rather solutions to difficult situations that may arise throughout a divorce. He will protect you, provide you honest feedback, though it may not be what you want to hear, and most importantly not spend your money needlessly. What’s unique with James is the ability to pull the “emotion” out of the situation and provide honest legal guidance relative to any particular situation he’s given. I hired James for a divorce case. He made sure to play dirty. I wanted everything done simply. Instead he made it a point to play both sides and continue to drag the case on by manufacturing stories and conditions which for both sides to want to buttheads. Very sly for someone to do. Divorce is painf...ul enough and short term money goals mean more to him than being ethical.

I sought legal advice from two attorneys prior to meeting with Mr. Barilla. I wasn't happy with either of the first two because I didn't feel like they listened, believed me, or would fight as hard as I knew they would need to. Mr. Barilla met me at my convenience and it was after normal business hou...rs (which was extremely helpful because I work during the day). I told him what I wanted and what I was willing to settle for, and he was honest with me when he believed I was being realistic or unrealistic.
