The BEST!! AWESOME!! You will NOT be dissapointed.

I’m not one to normally post reviews. However, after reading the recent review for James I felt it important to post my dealings with James for the better part of the past 9+ years. There has NEVER been a time I didn’t trust James or felt he was taking advantage of the situation. James had the patien...ce of a saint as he watched my ex-wife hire and fire over 9 attorneys. Unfortunately there are numerous attorneys who will thrive on your personal “misfortunes”. With James, he doesn’t look at dollar signs rather solutions to difficult situations that may arise throughout a divorce. He will protect you, provide you honest feedback, though it may not be what you want to hear, and most importantly not spend your money needlessly. What’s unique with James is the ability to pull the “emotion” out of the situation and provide honest legal guidance relative to any particular situation he’s given. Should you be seeking an attorney please do yourself a favor and contact James. Ask him for my name and number and I’ll be glad to go in greater detail. Just mention I need to speak with your client that had an “x” who hired and fired 9+ attorneys and dismissed the divorce the day before trial to only file again the following day. He’ll know.

Avoid at all costs

I hired James for a divorce case. He made sure to play dirty. I wanted everything done simply. Instead he made it a point to play both sides and continue to drag the case on by manufacturing stories and conditions which for both sides to want to buttheads. Very sly for someone to do. Divorce is painf...ul enough and short term money goals mean more to him than being ethical.

I am disappointed that someone would stoop so low as to pretend to be a current client concerned about me playing “dirty” for some financial benefit. First, in 25 years of practice I have never “played dirty” but when opposing litigants violate court orders, I zealously advocate for my client’s rights. Secondly, in the vast majority of the cases I have pending or recently concluded, most are amicable divorces in which there are not “dirty tricks” taking place on either side. In the handful of cases in which the divorce is contentious or dragging on, each client is well aware that it is the opposition that is the party delaying the case and/or no additional fees have been requested or paid. The alleged client who authored this review claims to be a current client. If that is true, why have you not terminated my services? Why have you not reached out to discuss the matter with me? I would be happy to discuss any concerns the author has, and to clear up any misunderstandings. All of my real clients have my cell phone.

Highly Recommended

I sought legal advice from two attorneys prior to meeting with Mr. Barilla. I wasn't happy with either of the first two because I didn't feel like they listened, believed me, or would fight as hard as I knew they would need to. Mr. Barilla met me at my convenience and it was after normal business hou...rs (which was extremely helpful because I work during the day). I told him what I wanted and what I was willing to settle for, and he was honest with me when he believed I was being realistic or unrealistic. He charged me a reasonable price, answered his phone on the weekends, and got me exactly what I wanted! Mr. Barilla comes highly recommended!

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
