This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority.
Public reprimand means an attorney did something wrong but may still practice law. The State gives the lawyer a public reprimand in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior. Details of the infraction are made part of the public record.
Keithley’s comment: “In the late 1980's, I was employed as an associate where I had a heavy criminal defense practice in Toledo Municipal Court. It was the custom at that time for busy lawyers to carry around with them case files for various clients inside the courthouse and, often, back to their offices to return the next day. I did that. Bad idea. Perhaps a dozen attorneys were scrutinized. Several had their licenses suspended and a number received a public reprimand. This is not conduct that I have repeated.”
