Professional and Personable

Charles effectively and efficiently responded to a letter of inquiry that I received from the Ohio Supreme Court Disciplinary Counsel regarding an IOLTA banking error. His response led to a prompt dismissal of the case. Charles saved me the time (and hassle) of responding to the OSC-DC, in turn, allowing me to focus on my own clients' matters. I would add that during that process Charles also provided me with sound advice for maintaining my integrity and professionalism during extremely contentious and ongoing litigation--just one of the reasons I did not have the time to handle the IOLTA matter myself. I cannot think of a reason why a practicing lawyer would not hire an ethics lawyer to handle any issue no matter how seemingly minor. Hairdressers do not cut their own hair. Surgeons do not operate on themselves. If you are a practicing lawyer and do not already 'have a guy', then call Charles!

Charles Kettlewell's practice concentrates on the field of legal ethics and primarily consists of representing lawyers on ethics and disciplinary matters, bar applicants in admissions matters, non-lawyers in unauthorized practice of law (“UPL”) matters, and providing representation and expert witness services in legal malpractice actions in the state of Ohio.

Charles Kettlewell has written hundreds of private advisory opinions for clients from solo practitioners to international law firms, has defended hundreds of attorney grievances, and has appeared as counsel on numerous occasions before Panels of the Board of Commissioners on Grievances and Discipline and the Board of Commissioners on Character and Fitness, as well as before the Supreme Court of Ohio.

Charles Kettlewell has written for Columbus Bar Briefs, which is published by The Daily Reporter, was a contributing author to Reflections on Life and the Law, published by the Columbus Bar Association, and has taught over 200 hours of CLE courses on legal ethics and professionalism to various bar organizations and government agencies, including: The Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA); The Supreme Court of Ohio Judicial College; The Ohio Attorney General’s Office; Ohio Lawyer’s Assistance Program (OLAP); The Supreme Court Board on the Unauthorized Practice of Law; The Ohio Prosecutor’s Association; The Stark County Academy of Trial Lawyers; Franklin County Trial Lawyer’s Association; The Ohio Forum of Estate Planning Attorneys; Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers (APRL); and, continuing education sponsors such as Lorman, PESI, and NBI.

Charles Kettlewell is a member of the American Bar Association Center for Professional Responsibility, The Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers,the Ohio Association for Justice, the Central Ohio Association for Justice (COAJ), and the Ohio State Bar Associations. I am very satisfied with the attorney services of Charles Kettlewell. I was to a called sua sponte hearing by the Character & Fitness Review Board. Mr. Kettlewell spotted all the issues and successfully advocated for me every step of the way.

Inquiry Letter Reprsentation

Mr. Kettlewell represented me when a former employer filed a grievance I believed to be retaliatory in nature. I am confident that Mr. Kettlewell's diligence and strong working relationship with ODC secured the just and expeditious resolution in the matter and the best outcome for my situation (dismissal of the grievance and closure of the investigation). I would highly recommend his services to anyone who has to engage with the attorney disciplinary system in Ohio.

Trusted Advocate in your corner!

Mr. Kettlewell handled a C&F matter for me and I couldn't have asked for better representation. Extremely diligent, knowledgeable and a well prepared course of conduct my matter from start to finish. My only regret is that I didn't hire him sooner! I started with a different counsel that wasted a lot of my time and money. Excellent attorney

Mr. Kettlewell did a superb job in representing me in a spurious ethics complaint. He provided a good overview of what to expect at the beginning of the matter, laid out a strategy for proceeding given the particular forum, kept me apprised at all stages during the proceeding. Highly recommended

Please do not attempt to represent yourself in any disciplinary proceeding. I would highly recommend Charles. He is very knowledgeable in alleged violations of the Code of Professional Responsibility and has great relationships with the Disciplinary Counsel. He provided sound advice and was there every step of the way to answer questions and guide me through this unfortunate process. Once again, don't have a fool for a client and represent yourself. Excellent representation

He is quite simply the best attorney for disciplinary defense

I retained Mr. Kettlewell to represent me in a matter against a former client that had alleged disciplinary violations that were unsubstantiated. He was easy to work with, went over the facts of my case, and prepared a defense that was impressive and ultimately won the "case". I would recommend him to any attorney that has to deal with a disciplinary investigation or complaint.

Best value for your money
