Richard Burke Furnish

Richard B. Furnish, Esq. is an Of Counsel attorney with Gavvl Law and a Hillsboro, Ohio native who knows firsthand how hard Ohioans work. He earned his Juris Doctor from the Saint Louis University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in General Business from the Farmer School of Business at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he also studied international business in Luxembourg. Licensed in Ohio for more than 15 years, Richard is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.

Before opening his own practice in 2011, Richard worked for the Ohio Attorney General's Office, in the Environmental Enforcement Department, and at Black Letter Discovery. He went on to run his own firm for more than a decade, building a broad practice that spans general and civil litigation, criminal defense, domestic relations and family law, corporate law, contracts, bankruptcy, real estate transactions, probate, and trusts, wills, and estates.

Within family law, Richard handles the core matters that families face most often — divorce, custody, and child support. His business background informs how he approaches the financial side of these cases, helping clients work through property division, support calculations, and the practical economics of separating households.
