Jessica K. Philemond

I represent Ohio school boards and their employees as general counsel and trial counsel in labor and employment matters, civil rights issues, labor negotiations, investigations, administrative proceedings, and other school-related matters.

 

I have extensive experience litigating in Ohio's county courts and courts of appeal as well as Ohio's Federal Courts and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.  I have won jury trials on behalf of my clients in state and federal court and have obtained many defense verdicts prior to trial.

 

I am a member of the Ohio Council of School Board Attorneys, the Ohio School Boards Association, and participate in the Ohio School Boards Association Special Education Roundtable.  I enjoy presenting on school law topics to Ohio's schools and related organizations and have a true passion for teaching threat assessment - finding those students who are on the path to violence before they act so that the school can intervene, making the school a safe place and providing the student with the care they need.  With my experience both counseling school districts and defending them in court, I believe I have developed a solid understanding of risk management that I can share with my clients.
