Took all my money

My divorce took almost 2 years. Paid 16,000 and still owe money. Didn’t defend me or make me feel like he was on my side in court. Told me he filled contempt of court twice. Lost first one and second produced nothing . Wouldn’t get a protection order as I felt unsafe in my home and was threatened by ...my now Ex. I asked several times but he never pursued the issue until 6-7 months later. Some of his staff was rude and nasty giving me advice to just “Suck it up” would never help me prepare for my court cases and call the day before to tell me they changed the court date.. Often times the date would be changed and I would be lucky to get a 24 hour notice. I lost my case and had to buy my cheating husband out.. I do not recommend him as I felt pressured to make decisions quickly I wasn’t comfortable but felt as though I had no choice. Please move on from this attorney and find someone who will have your best interest in mind. I do not recommend.

To some it is unfortunate that Ohio is a no fault state. Adultery is not punished. The Ohio Supreme Court establishes that there is a timeline for divorce cases. This is not in the control of the attorney. While I sympathize with this former client, the result was favorable as the client received a hefty spousal support award and achieved the goal of retaining the home. Ohio is a state that equalizes marital assets. So, if you get the bulk of the assets, you will need to pay an equalization payment to your spouse. To the client’s point, I do not waste client funds on claims that will not prevail in court. Divorce is emotional; however our role is to guide you to a resolution by trial or settlement that is in your best interest as we take the emotion out of the equation. When kids are not involved, divorce is much like a math problem. This is not a warm and fuzzy feeling when emotion is involved. This case resulted in a settlement which by default means that there is no winner or loser.

Chris Trolinger

Chris Trolinger was assigned to my case mid-stream in the divorce process. He did come to understand my case fairly quickly. At times I didn't feel well informed and found myself lacking knowledge about the process in an uncivil divorce. I did not receive a copy of the deposition. My disappoint...ment stems from both domestic law and the attorney's standard approach to divorce. Denying fault, renders it impossible to reach a fair and equitable outcome in a failed marriage. My case was based on financial misconduct but was not aggressively pursued as should have been. I did not feel that enough effort or interest was taken to push this valid point. I settled in mediation for many reasons, the biggest reason being that there was simply no money left to go on. The entire divorce process took one year.
