The victim fell and was injured on February 9, 2010, while walking to her job as teacher for a nursing class. She alleged that the facility had acted in a negligent manner by failing to ensure that the ... sidewalks around the institute were kept free of ice. Ms. Kostera continues to suffer pain and has limited mobility. She has been unable to return to her employment as a nursing instructor at a community college. The court found the school 100% liable for her injuries and awarded her $4,000,000. The matter was subsequently appealed by the defense to the Appellate Division of the Superior Court. Mr. Colleran prevailed in the appeal and the matter was presented to the Supreme Court of New Jersey which declined review. When interest was added to the verdict, the total recovery for plaintiff in the case was in excess of $4,329,000.
