One of the worst in Kentucky

So I was appointed Matthew Garmin (based in Wayne co) through the court for a juvenile case in Russell county Kentucky about 6 months ago. After he was appointed I reached out to him and he told me I've never done a juvenile case before but the court appointed it to me. I have tried calling him multi...ple times left multiple voicemails talk to the secretary and have not heard back from him until today. We had a court date on March the 5th and UPS reached out 2 weeks ago and told us that the court date was moved to March 19th. We live about 3 hours from the county that this is happening in so when we reached out to the county clerk she could not share this information with us because it's a juvenile case over the phone so I reached out to the lawyer to see if the court date has been changed. And upon calling he I talked to the secretary and the secretary was very rude to me because she said that the court date has not been changed because they have received nothing but they have already missed two court dates and had to reschedule because they didn't receive the letter about the court date. She did hung up on me and about an hour later Garmin called me back. And proceeded to tell me how I shouldn't tell his secretary that that maybe the court date was changed and they didn't get the letter and that if they would check in to see if the court date has changed and that I shouldn't request his secretary to do anything because she does not work for me. And then even cursed at me whenever I said well fine then can you do it and he said I don't need to be worried about what he's doing he's doing his job so now I'm on a 3-hour drive to go to the courthouse to see if the court date has been changed. He will be removed from this case because he cannot do his job he has been on this case for over 6 months and has put a total of about 10 minutes of phone time to this case. He is utterly disrespectful does not care about you and your case all he is worried about is trying to get money and in this case he's getting it from the government so it's all of your tax dollars going to pay him to do nothing. Please do not be the mistake of being his client and actually paying this miserable human being any of your money save it and go somewhere else promise you you could get a bum on the corner to do better than he has done for us.

He promises but does not deliver.

I retained this gentleman 9 months ago at the time he described my case as a slam dunk case. Mr. Ramsey did not communicate well with me, he would take 10 to 14 days to respond to calls and emails and only then with repeated calls and emails from myself. I do not understand the law so I was dependi...ng on him for fair representation which I unfortunately did not receive. During the ZOOM court appearance he was unprepared and although he indicated he and I would communicate by test during the case he was no available and did not respond when the other attorney made untrue comments.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
