Probate of Estates of Mother and Daughter
N/AOUTCOME: Successful Probate of Complicated Estates
In 2015, I probated two estates, one for a mother and one for a daughter, who passed away together in a house fire. There were a myriad of issues involved in each probate including the lack of a will f ... or both the mother and the daughter, locating heirs, property insurance issues, and code enforcement issues. I represented both of the estates in both the probate proceedings and the code enforcement proceedings. Code enforcement was seeking fines against the estates due to the condition of the homestead property as a result of the house fire. I attended multiple code enforcement hearings in which I argued for and received an extension of time and a withholding of fines as I worked with the personal representative to effectuate the sale of the property. In the end I was able to resolve all issues regarding both estates and to distribute the assets to the heirs according to law.
