OUTCOME: Case Dismissal - No other charges

Client was investigated and charged with corporal punishment against his own son under PC273(d)(a). Mr. TD had hit his child with a belt on his buttocks and upper thigh area and left several marks the ... width of a belt. Police Detectives investigated and interviewed Mr. TD. TD made several admissions to hitting his child with the belt. TD was charged with child abuse in Los Angeles County afterwards. Prosecutor's offer was a plea to PC273(d), a crime of moral turpitude. TD could not accept this offer because he would likely lose his job as a police officer. A strong defense was created after significant preparation involving a child development expert, child disability expert and a psychologist. District Attorney's office decided to completely dismiss this case after considering challenges at trial.

OUTCOME: 3 years summary probation from 2 counts of felony drug sales

Client was arrested for drugs after Los Angeles Sheriff's Department Drug Officers executed a search warrant based upon the testimony of an informant. Police officers found drugs, baggies, 2 differe ... nt type of drugs and several thousand dollars. Client was charged with 2 counts of sale of methamphetamine and cocaine. District attorney offered 6 months in jail under a charge of drug sales. However, a drug sales offer would result in client's deportation back to El Salvador because he was not a US Citizen. After preliminary examination of the officer, the judge reduced 1 charge to possession. Case eventually settled for 3 years probation and no jail. Client also would not be deported to El Salvador.

OUTCOME: Case dismissed

DUI case was completely dismissed after judge ruled that police officer's illegally stopped client. Client was pulled over and took a breathalyzer test with a 0.19 / 0. 19 blood alcohol reading. Af ... ter being arrested, he was tested again at the station and blew a 0.22 and a 0.22 blood alcohol reading. Client was charged with DUI under both VC 23152(a) and 23512(b. ) After a suppression motion to determine if client was legally stopped, the judge made the determination that the CHP officer was not credible in his reasons for stopping the client. Judge granted client's motion to dismiss the case.

OUTCOME: 90 days county jail and counselling classes instead of 3 years state prison.

Client was under the influence of alcohol with a .21% BAC and was involved in an argument with another person. Client became angry and attempted to run over this person with their vehicle several time ... s. After failing to hit the person with his car, client chased the other person into a gas station and threatened him with a large 2 foot metal wrench. Incident was capture on video surveillance. District Attorney's charged client with felony assault with a deadly weapon and felony criminal threats along with misdemeanor DUI. Initial offer from the prosecution was 3 years in state prison and a strike. Client received misdemeanor charge, 90 days in jail and 52 anger management classes.
