Client was investigated and charged with corporal punishment against his own son under PC273(d)(a). Mr. TD had hit his child with a belt on his buttocks and upper thigh area and left several marks the ... width of a belt. Police Detectives investigated and interviewed Mr. TD. TD made several admissions to hitting his child with the belt. TD was charged with child abuse in Los Angeles County afterwards. Prosecutor's offer was a plea to PC273(d), a crime of moral turpitude. TD could not accept this offer because he would likely lose his job as a police officer. A strong defense was created after significant preparation involving a child development expert, child disability expert and a psychologist. District Attorney's office decided to completely dismiss this case after considering challenges at trial.
