Benjamin Francis Wyman III

I am a trial lawyer with the experience, skills, and demeanor to win your case. Born in Augusta, Georgia, I am the only son born to a family physician and a psychiatric social worker. I have lived the majority of my life in Louisville, Kentucky, my chosen hometown, after being educated in the public schools of South Carolina, and graduating from Furman University.  Since living here I earned a M.Div. from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a law degree from the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville.

My legal training began before I started law school when I served as a pastoral counselor, chaplain, therapist, pastor and social worker in a variety of settings.  Having the opportunity to work with clients who were required to go to court introduced me to the legal system, where I quickly discerned that I could do what lawyers and judges do, and do it better than the ones I saw.  I also gained invaluable experience working with a wide variety of people in different life stages facing a wide spectrum of problems. 

While in law school, I clerked for the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office, and later served in their Family Court unit.  Upon graduation, I became an Assistant County Attorney, where I nurtured and honed my love of justice.  For seventeen years, I prosecuted a broad spectrum of criminal cases, from sex offenses to guns, drugs, and DUI’s.  During my full-time service as a prosecutor, I maintained a family law practice in which I handled a wide variety of divorce and post-divorce matters.  I also worked part-time for, and learned from, some of the best personal injury trial attorneys in this state.  To date, I tried 101 cases and written 51 appeals.   That is more trial experience than most lawyers accumulate in two lifetimes.

Shortly after making the decision to enter private practice, I was invited to join two of my best friends, Maria Fernandez, who has been my family’s attorney for 20 years, and Doug Haynes, who was one of my professors in law school, to join their practice.  Doing work you love with people you love is a great gift.   

I have accumulated a successful and impressive track record. I have personally resolved thousands of cases ranging from six figure personal injury car wrecks to divorce and post-divorce matters to criminal cases.  I have tried real cases in front of real juries in Kentucky.  Most of the lawyers who advertise have never stepped inside a courthouse and tried a case in front of a jury. How can you expect your case to be taken seriously when the lawyer you hired has never demonstrated he is a legitimate opponent?

I have repeatedly demonstrated that I have the skills and knowledge to successfully handle the cases I pursue, and I have consistently demonstrated the ability to obtain impressive results. When dealing with an opponent, you can bet that I will be aggressive, relentless and zealous. However, I am guided by a sense of fair play, and I will maintain courtesy, civility, and respect for the opposing side, regardless of our disagreement. I take pride in my standing in the legal, professional, business and civic communities, and I will keep promises and commitments.

Although my primary office is located in Louisville, Kentucky, I travel throughout the state of Kentucky, and I have represented clients in courtrooms throughout the state.

I am the husband of Michelle, and father to a son and two daughters:  Braden, Brevin and Brenna.  In my spare time, I enjoy my family and friends. Shelly and I spend a staggering amount of time transporting our children to scholastic and athletic events.  I enjoy running and biking, and raising the community’s awareness of pancreatic cancer…my wife is a pancreatic cancer survivor.  I look forward to however we may cross paths in the community.
