David Lake sought public records from the City of Phoenix under the Arizona Public Records statute. Lake's request included the metadata associated with the public record. The City of Phoenix denied ... the request for the metadata, claiming it was not part of the public record. The matter was ultimately heard by the Arizona Supreme Court and resulted in an expansion of Arizona Public Records law.
