Biography
R. James (Jimmy) Young was named by his peers as the Best Lawyers in America 2013 Jackson, MS, Trusts & Estates "Lawyers of the Year". Jimmy was also named to The Top 50 Mississippi attorneys 2010, 2012 and 2013 lists, having received one of the highest point totals in the Mid-South Super Lawyers nomination, research and blue ribbon review process. He was identified as one of the Top 50 Lawyers in Mississippi in the Leaders in Law 2011 by the Mississippi Business Journal. Jimmy practices primarily in the areas of estate planning and probate, elder law and business successions, and he is motivated by "a heart for working with families in a holistic approach to managing and transferring their wealth and in providing for their special needs.” He particularly enjoys "the challenge of resolving the most difficult, complex and convoluted estate and trust administration issues.”
Jimmy spent six years early in his career as an Estate Tax Attorney with the Internal Revenue Service. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust & Estate Counsel, serving five years as Chair for the State of Mississippi, a past Chairman of The Mississippi Bar's Estates and Trusts Section and past president of the Estate Planning Council of Mississippi. He co-chaired the Secretary of State's Trust Laws Study Group (2010 session). An Accredited Estate Planner with the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils and a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Jimmy has taught seminars for many years, including chairing the Annual Estate Planning Seminars co-sponsored by the Mississippi College School of Law and the Estate Planning Council of Mississippi.
Jimmy has been included in The Best Lawyers in America for more than twenty years and has been selected as a Mid-South Super Lawyer since its inception in earned a B.B.A. in Banking and Finance from the University of Mississippi, and the J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law.
