I believe in winning every case I take. I believe in doing everything necessary, legal and proper to win for my client. I believe in getting to know my client and their every concern. I believe in being available to my client any time my client needs me.
I believe that a client must TRUST their lawyer to deal with them honestly, to tell them the truth, to keep them informed, and to know that I am on THEIR SIDE and cannot be bought off or scared off. In everything I do for a client I want them to TRUST me and that my actions and judgment are in their best interest.
In 44 years of practicing law I have handled most every kind of case. I apply my experience in complex personal injury, medical malpractice, and product liability actions not only in those cases, but also to all kinds of domestic cases, primarily contested divorces, in estate litigation and in criminal cases. My practice has taken me to courts all over the State of Mississippi, including Circuit, Chancery and Federal Courts. I have handled 38 appeals to the Mississippi Supreme Court and the Mississippi Court of Appeals. I have been a strong advocate of 2nd Amendment (gun) rights, having represented over 1500 clients in a case before the Mississippi Supreme Court over gun rights. I represent people, not big companies. I have represented hundreds of people in cases agains Big Pharma. I currently hold, I believe, the largest collected jury verdicts in several North Mississippi counties. I have successfully defended persons charged with serious crimes (aggravated assault and murder) on grounds of self-defense. In domestic cases, I primarily represent husbands and fathers who often feel disadvantaged when it comes to divorce cases and the charges against them, and with respect to custody and visitation rights with their children and division of their property, including businesses. I have handled car wrecks, truck wrecks, motorcycle wrecks, a bridge collapse and hundreds of on the job injuries and divorces, to name a few.
I believe that the most important part of the relationship between a lawyer and his client is TRUST. I work hard to earn my client's trust and to keep that trust throughout my representation of a client, and for that client to trust that I will be there for them in everything I do.

Mr. Butts is a great attorney! He helped me in a tremendous way! He helped me get my divorce decree modified so that I could have more time with my children than I was getting. If you need an attorney for divorce decree modification, he is the one for you!
