Smart, Professional, Pragmatic

Caren is really great. She was my lawyer in a divorce where the other side was pursuing a strategy of maximum harassment and aggression, but Caren just did not buy into that way of doing things. It was clear to me that the judges respected this - and were not impressed by the hellfire and brimstone o...f the other side. Caren herself appears to treat everyone with respect: clients, opposing lawyers, opposing parties, judges. This lowers the temperature and I am confident that this set the stage for a reasonable settlement. Interestingly, Caren was recommended to me by a lawyer friend-of-a-friend. When I told him who the opposing Counsel was (someone well known for very aggressive courtroom tactics), he told me that a natural instinct is to seek an aggressive lawyer to represent me. He advised me against this, saying that judges don't like it, and said that having a smart even-tempered lawyer often works out better in the long run. I felt afterwards that this completely described the situation.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
