Attorney Kadin represented defendants in a bad faith insurance matter against defendants' insurer. Insurer settled the insurance bad faith case for a cash damage award along with a promise to satisfy a ... judgment entered against defendants. Attorney sued his own clients, claiming he was owed a contingency fee based off of the total recovery of the cash award ($500,000) and the full amount of the judgment (almost $13MM) that was satisfied for an unknown amount. Defendants argued that the contingency fee agreement only allowed attorney to collect his fee as a % of the cash recovery. Case was tried as a bench trial in Orange County Superior Court.
