Dishonest with lack of accountability

I had an initial consultation with Mrs Smith while at Pryor, Priest and Harber, regarding my divorce case. She came highly recommended from a trusted attorney as a smart person and a fighter. While she seemed capable and willing to represent me she asked me to go to the upcoming court hearing by myse...lf and ask for more time to help her catch up with the details of my case, which I did. She made sure I understood she would be available for me to take over my case once the hearing was over. When I tried to get back in touch with her to retain her after the hearing she refused to communicate with me despite reaching out to her with 3 separate phone calls and 3 emails. Only 2 weeks after my initial attempt, as a reply to my last email, she let me know she will not be taking over my case due to its complexity and her lack of time. Not a singIe apology about her lack of communication or the fact she intentionally misled me. She tried to explain herself that she was out of town while none of the phone calls I made to her assistants alluded to that, nor was her email account set to "away". It was clear that Mrs Smith is not honest and straightforward. She did not have the experience nor the honesty to tell me face to face she is not fit to represent me. She was hoping I would take her silence and disengagement as a sign of withdrawal and quit contacting her while she initially misled me. I hope this review helps other future clients of hers understand better her personality and motivations.

I do not recommend!

I initially hired the law firm Miss Mikaela Smith works for, Foster and Potter, P.C. to represent me in my divorce on June 8, 2021, but unfortunately by mid-Sept of 2021, I was left to represent myself after Foster and Potter, PC withdrew from my case. The Attorney, the firm assigned to my case, Mis...s Smith, did nothing in my case other than withdraw, as is evidenced in my Rule Docket. At one point, I was told by a county clerk that it appeared I had no council on record because my attorney had not submitted a Notice of Appearance and that I needed to have my Miss Smith submit one so that the courts, especially the Judge, would know that I have representation, and that I was participating in my divorce proceedings. When I asked my Miss Smith to submit a Notice of Appearance, she did not respond to my need for her to file one, instead, she forwarded me a motion submitted by opposing counsel stating that my wife was trying to void my marriage, a marriage that has since been validated by the Courts. After receiving that motion, I realized there was no support coming from my assigned attorney, Miss Smith, and I quickly scheduled an appointment to meet w/ one of the partner’s in her firm in hopes that I could get someone to file a response to the motion, but unfortunately I went into that meeting not knowing that Miss Smith had already filed a withdraw order that very day stating that the attorney client relationship had been severely broken down to the point where representation was no longer possible. After I left the meeting, I decided to do as much research as I could which led me to file my own Opposition to opposing councils’ motion, which in turn led to the Judge declaring my marriage valid. I have since been self-representing, submitting numerous motions, and I’ve responded to everything in my case, such as my initial complaint for divorce that Miss Smith and her firm was unwilling to do for me. I’m currently awaiting my Divorce trial where I plan to continue self-representing since I cannot afford a replacement Attorney after Miss Smith and her firm’s refusal to give me any sort of refund. In short, Mr. Smith and her firm did not do one thing they were contracted to do and when I asked to be provided documentation stating what Miss Smith/Foster and Potter did in my case, hours worked etc. I received nothing, not even an acknowledgement to my inquiry. Thank you for taking the time to review my experience.
