I had the luck and privilege of being assigned John Halstead to my case to which I was facing possession of prohibited weapons, a category A felony in the state of Tennessee . Although I was unable to afford bail, during my stay in jail for nearly 13 months I was impressed most by John’s willingne...ss to come see me at the treacherous Knox County Sheriff’s Detention Facility just about every other couple of weeks . At my request he provided me with every document I ever asked for . He listened to me with unhindered attention, took lots of notes, kept in touch with my family, was able to successfully persuade division 2 criminal court to pay for a top notch forensic psychological evaluation sprecifically related to my case AND keep all records of it sealed from the public and even officials of the state that may have tried to use it against me, and did his very best, I believe, when it came to standing in front of the Honorable and handling my case. It was amazing how John was able to find the time to be in so many places at once. Attorneys are very busy. Time is precious. Even so, it was easy to understand that John is passionate for his job and probably was handling a lot of other cases in addition to mine at that time. Not sure how he does it, but John is a great person and I believe he is a highly intelligent and very capable lawyer that can and will defend multiple even difficult clients concurrently. Work with him and he will work with you hands-down no doubt .
