Matthew Edward Roark

Hailing from Carter County, Tennessee, Matthew completed high school in 2001 and pursued an English degree at Austin Peay State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2005. Balancing academics and athletics, he played football and engaged in leadership roles with the Student Government Association and Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.
Matthew embarked on his legal journey at Southern Illinois University School of Law, gaining crucial experience through internships with the late David Crockett in Elizabethton and the District Attorney’s Office in the First Judicial District. After earning his law degree, Matthew returned to Northeast Tennessee in 2009, driven by a commitment to serve his community. As an Assistant District Attorney, he initially prosecuted felony drug cases before assuming a broader role in Johnson County and later Carter County.
In 2023, Matthew joined Baker Foster Potter, P.C., spearheading its criminal defense practice in Northeast Tennessee. His legal acumen is evidenced by his involvement in over 60 jury trials, including high-profile homicide cases, and an appearance on "American Justice." Matthew’s dedication to his community extends beyond his legal career through church leadership and youth sports coaching, all while cherishing time with his family.
