C. Mark Warren

Personal injury attorney C. Mark Warren’s first job was selling programs at University of Tennessee football games at the age of 12. He was paid $0.10 per $1 program, and to this day, he is still paid a percentage of any recovery, albeit more than 10%.

Long after he sold programs at University of Tennessee’s football stadium, he attended The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, majoring in political science, with aspirations of becoming the city’s mayor. C. Mark graduated with highest honors (4.0 GPA average) from the University of Tennessee. After a stint working as the maître d’ at a private dining club during the 1982 World’s Fair in Knoxville, he attended University of Tennessee College of Law where he acquired a Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree in 1989, graduating from UT Law School with honors (3.5 GPA average).

After graduating law school, C. Mark had good grades and several law firms eager to hire him. However, C. Mark had one requirement: he didn’t want to live more than 90 miles away from Neyland Stadium in Knoxville. Chattanooga fell within that radius, so C. Mark accepted a position with the Chattanooga law firm of Stophel and Stophel, P.C. which offered him the best opportunity.

It was at Stophel and Stophel where he met his future brother “in-law,” John Mark Griffin. The two quickly became besties, and they have remained so since 1989, over three decades and counting. C. Mark values that relationship more than anything and consider John Mark to be the “ying” to his “yang.”

In 1996, founding partners C. Mark and John Mark established Warren & Griffin P.C., where they have been practicing law together side-by-side ever since. Since the beginning of Warren & Griffin, PC, Proverbs 31:8 has been the cornerstone of their practice, “speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.” This Proverb originated with C. Mark’s mother, whose graduation gift from law school was a paperweight containing that Bible verse.

For over three decades, C. Mark has represented the interests of individuals hurt by the negligence of others. He is licensed to practice law in Tennessee and Georgia and is admitted to practice before state and federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court. Over the years, C. Mark has been fortunate to obtain millions of dollars for his clients through trials, mediations and settlements against insurance companies for damages caused to individuals by car accidents, truck wrecks, work injuries, and/or dangerous premises. In addition, C. Mark has obtained millions of dollars for his clients for the negligence of nursing homes.

C. Mark is a member of the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyers in the nation. He was named Litigator of the Year in 2026 by the American Institute of Trial Lawyers. He has been a member of Lawyers of Distinction for over decades. C. Mark is also a member of the Million-Dollar Round Table, representing lawyers who have obtained million-dollar verdicts in their career. In addition, C. Mark has been recognized in Personal Injury Law by Premier Lawyers of America, an honor that puts him in the top 1% of attorneys in America.

C. Mark has been married to Terrie Elaine for over four decades, having met her at Arby’s on Kingston Pike while both were in school at UTK. C. Mark and Terrie have three wonderful children, and six beautiful grandchildren. His oldest, Bo Warren, is a Social Security Disability advocate in Fairhope, Alabama while his youngest son, Hank Warren, is a lawyer with the firm. C. Mark’s daughter, Susannah Shaver, is the director of operations at the Kidney Foundation of Chattanooga. C. Mark and Terrie are currently raising three blonde Shorkies named Daisy, Dixie and Dolly.
