For most of my twenty-year career, I’ve intuitively been practicing the art of story to help my clients reach their goals. It is within the past ten years or so that I began to focus on the science of how and why story works. I started this learning journey out of necessity so I could train the lawyers who work for me to do what I do and to replicate the successes I have had. Through teaching these skills, my own understanding of the science and power of story has grown exponentially.

What started out as something I was doing naturally — storytelling — has now become the cornerstone of Sherwood Boutique Litigation’s systematic processes in defending our clients. Knowing the facts of your case and the relevant law is the bare minimum for our team, and we’ll know them better than anyone else in that courtroom. Ms. Sherwood received her undergraduate degree in Political Science with honors in 1997 from Delta State University. She received her Law Degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law, where she also received the Carl J. Ruskowski Clinical Legal Education Award. This prestigious award is given to the graduating student who demonstrated excellence in the practice of law and exemplified the highest standards of the legal profession. She is admitted to practice in Tennessee and is a member of the bar of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Western Districts of Tennessee.

Powerhouse Litigator

Sherwood Boutique Litigation (SBL) may hold the title of law firm but it is so much more. I was detained by US customs after returning from a vacation overseas. I had no idea I had a warrant for my arrest for an incident that happened a year prior. As I was in a relationship that consisted of physi...cal and mental abuse, I did not press charges against my abuser. Unbeknownst to me, my abuser filed charges. Due to the seriousness of the matter, I knew that I had to stand up for myself. I needed an advocate, a specialist in cases of this nature, and someone who would be truthful. Diligent research was put into making sure I had a powerhouse attorney. I found Cynthnia Sherwood and across the board she had excellent reviews. Upon meeting the SBL team, I knew without a doubt that I had chosen an incredible law firm. Cynthnia was very personable and easily gained my trust. She did not hesitate to call and kept me in constant communication as to the progress of my case. In court, Cynthnia represented me with absolute skill and professionalism. Her assistance did not just stop in the court room with an unbelievable resolution on my behalf but went on to ensure that I was able to address my mental health issues stemming from the physical abuse. There are not enough stars to rank her! She is truly that good.

As a business owner for 30 years, I have had to fight many battles. There is a difference however from business legal issues and personal. This case was PERSONAL! I have never had an attorney that would listen so intensely and I could see her take on the passion I had for this case. Her ability to c...ommunicate with the parties involved was amazing. We had tried on our own for two years with no results. Cynthia took on the case and within a matter of days she had created a dialog no one ells could. Being in sales and marketing, I thought if I can’t open the door to this problem and handle getting resolution, no one could. I was wrong. Cynthia not only resolved the conflict but even got us a meeting with the individuals that now has turned into a good relationship. I have seen many attorneys that would have “milked” this case for ever. That is not who she is. She is fair, to the point and winner all the way around. Her staff is “top shelf”, and have the empathy I needed to settle down and be a reasonable client (Yes, I can be unreasonable). If felt the need to let her and her staff know, you guys are amazing. A Stellar Lawyer!!

I recently got into a bit of a legal situation while I was visiting from out of town and I didn't know who to contact. I have never been in trouble with the law before, and I was extremely upset and didn't know what to do. I looked online at the top lawyers in Nashville and Cynthia's name was at the ...top of the list. I called the number listed and immediately spoke with Jaimee Mackey, Cindy's legal secretary who was very pleasant to talk to. I explained my situation and she told me I definitely called the right person and transferred my call to Cindy. As soon as Cindy picked up her line I knew that I called the right lawyer. She was very compassionate and assured me that she would help me and get the matter resolved. Cynthia is amazing!!

My wife and I were dealing with a landlord that would not return our deposit after we moved out, I called Cynthia and she handled everything! She was amazing!
