I owe a lot to T. Leigh Hearn-Rushton. I was the subject of false accusations in a community setting and my accuser took me to civil court to get an order of protection against me. T. Leigh took one look at the paltry, disjointed allegations on the OP and accepted my case enthusiastically. In cour...t, we heard a number of new allegations against me for the first time. My accuser almost seemed to be making them up on the spot. T. Leigh objected, but the judge chose to listen to my accuser, and ended up making a decision in her favor based on her emotional performance. T. Leigh wrote the word Appeal on a piece of paper in front of me, and we walked straight out of the court room and filed one. She said that what happened in that court room was up to the judge, but that it was wrong, and she slashed her retainer for me and I hired her straight away again for the appeal. We had a month to prepare, and we used it. Out of town all month, I spent hours going over and over the audio recording of the first trial, which, if she hadn't recorded, I don't know what we would have done. I made a seven page spread-sheet of every point of contention I had with my accuser's testimony. Meanwhile, T. Leigh was on the phone with me, asking me about everything, hearing me out, and guiding me through the process, and even helping reflect a clarity to me when I felt emotionally exhausted. As the appeal neared, T. Leigh dove in, burning long hours reading and making notes on everything I'd written, asking me for and poring over my evidence, having conversations with all my potential witnesses, and building her strategy for the trial. Here's what happened at the appeal. My accuser, the petitioner of the OP, gave her testimony for a little less than half an hour. She said all the stuff she said at the last trial, plus one new allegation, which we had been able to anticipate from evidence. Then, T. Leigh cross-examined the petitioner for two-and-a-half hours. Then, the judge threw the OP out. I didn't even have to testify. The cross-examination was one of the most brutal things I've ever seen. T. Leigh courteously extended the petitioner every invitation to contradict herself, to characterize things contrary to evidence (and then immediately presented that evidence), to show herself to be the guilty one we both knew her to be. T. Leigh was like a lion, playing with food. She was never mean or badgery... she was just completely authoritative and uncompromising, and the petitioner's case unraveled so thoroughly that by the end, she was just staring blankly at some low place, murmuring monosyllabic replies, and T. Leigh had to ask her to look at her. T. Leigh apologized to one of her colleagues who had been working in the courtroom that day after the trial when most people had left. She said she was sorry that she took so many hours to win the case... she could have done it in less time, but she wanted to make absolutely certain that the petitioner sabotaged every one of her own claims, and that she would have nothing left with which to come after me again. She did all this with a drastically reduced retainer, because she believed in me, and more importantly, because she believes in justice. Hire her.

I’ve decided to post a one star without writing a full review at this time due needing to retain another attorney to review a settlement agreement Leigh represented me on. When I contacted Leigh and asked for her assistance in answering my questions about the contract she and her partner completed, h...er response was “I no longer represent you” and then asked if I wanted to retain her for further assistance. Let me be clear, I asked one question about some confusion on the contract that has put me in a very potentially serious financial situation. The reason I am choosing to write a brief review now is to give anyone who is searching for a divorce lawyer a heads up as you consider your options. I will update this review in full following further discussions with my new representation so I can include every single fact that has occurred since working with Leigh and her firm. That said, I would strongly consider this one star review and the fact that I have to pay another attorney to review Leigh’s work after I have paid her thousands.
