Been working for TDOT for 13 years. I’m a truck driver. It’s all I know. I’m a hard worker, I don’t go around just making work comp claims and trying to get something for nothing. I was at work when a gust of wind came in blew me sideways. A huge piece of equipment fell. I fell back and hit th...e rock and asphalt ground and was knocked unconscious. Nobody at my work called for EMS, I laid there for 15-20 minutes before anybody did anything. When I finally came to I had blood all over my face and was in so much pain and would you believe they put me in a state truck and drove me to a clinic instead of calling 911 to take me to the hospital! I crushed my ear drum and now have permanent nerve damage and hearing loss in my ear from hitting the ground so hard. My injuries triggered migraines. They get really bad, it broke all the bones in my face on my right side. I have permanent damage, and now have problems seeing out of my right eye. I was doing everything I could to try to heal up and get better as fast as possible but I was afraid that they were going to fire me or send me into early retirement because of my injuries.
