I hired Kimpi in 2005 to handle my divorce. At first she seemed like she truly cared about what I had gone through. She even went so far as to state that this is the reason she practices. She said she had gone through a similar situation with her ex husband. She, like I, married young and had childre...n before thinking about a career. I felt like I could trust her, when I really needed to trust someone the most. Unfortunately, a couple of month's later, my husband and I tried to make it work. Despite the fact that he is a pathological liar and cheater, I tried again. During this time I never spoke with Kimpi and she never phoned. I was a stay at home mom. Not 100% by choice. A little over a year later, he tried to push me off our porch. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. It was not the first time and it wouldn't be the last. Me and our children went into the domestic violence program. From there my case worker got in touch with Kimpi so she could finalize my divorce. She promptly said that yes she was indeed my lawyer and she would get on it right away. She did manage to have everything done. While in her office for the first time since the prior year, my ex-husband's attorney promptly took control. Since there was an order of protection in place and my ex had handed his own attorney a considerable sum of money, everything that was agreed on by me for the MDA was not in the MDA that was filed with Chancery. He had his name on everything that we owned and there were several vehicles that were not listed in the Final Decree. Needless to say I only got a car that was not paid for while he got a Camaro, 2 boats, a Ford Bronco, a pickup truck and a tow truck. All paid for. When we went to court on the matter, she stood outside the courtroom asking his attorney if this was gonna take long, that she had a pro bono case upstairs that she was going to be late for. I never saw the inside of the courtroom. The judge was actually late going into the courtroom because we, Kimpi and myself and my ex and his attorney, met in the judges chambers. That is where our divorce proceedings were held. Kimpi told me after we exited to get in touch with her regarding payment. My ex's attorney was supposed to file the MDA, Final Decree, and Order dismissing the Order of Protection. After all of that, we left and went our separate ways. I tried numerous times to get in touch with Kimpi and left countless messages. I even went to her office because the papers had not been filed and I wanted to be divorced all ready. Three months later, my ex had not seen the children at all. He decided one day to pull a stupid stunt of following me around and then accused me of not letting him have the children. Even though he was in his company van with only 2 seats, he wanted to take the children with him. He was furious when I would not come out of my friend's apartment and called the police. He actually went to jail. Because the attorneys that we hired did not do their job he spent a night in jail, which is actually comical to me, naturally. However, Kimpi did not do her job and working in the legal field now myself I realize what types of attorneys I do not like working with, and she is one of them. Take the money but disregard the needs of the clients. Get an attorney, but not her.

Disgusted

I cannot believe how inadequate she is. I have waited for 6 months for a return phone call. I've learned 3 years after she represented me in my divorce just how poorly I was represented. I regret ever hiring her!

"I have known Ms. Kendrick for several years as part of the legal community and sometimes as opposing counsel. Ms. Kendrick is knowledgeable about family law matters and zealously represents her clients. While an endorsement from an opposing counsel may seem odd, it should be known that it is often helpful to resolving a case when a skilled attorney is on the other side."
