Rodney Lewis Caldwell grew up in West Nashville, and upon completing high school at Hillwood Comprehensive High School, he decided to attend college at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. While at the University of Tennessee, Rodney majored in History and minored in English. Upon graduating from college in 2001, Rodney returned to Nashville and worked for about a year before deciding to go back to school.
Rodney decided to attend law school at the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. While in law school, Rodney served as the law clerk for Chancellor Walter L. Evans, for two years. Rodney also served as a bankruptcy extern for the Honorable David Kennedy, Chief Judge for the Western District Bankruptcy Court, during the summer of 2006. Rodney received his Juris Doctorate in 2006 and decided to return to Nashville to practice law.
Upon being admitted to practice law in Tennessee, Rodney took a job with the office of the Metropolitan Public Defender. As a public defender, Rodney represented indigent individuals with charges ranging from simple misdemeanors to serious felonies. After practicing criminal law with the Public Defender’s Office for almost three years, Rodney decided to leave the Public Defender’s Office and join The Law Offices of James Flexer in early 2010, where he currently focuses on debtor bankruptcy law.
