I contacted this firm seeking clarity regarding the laws on a new technology for the roads called “autocycles”, specifically the ambiguous requirement for these 3 wheel vehicles requiring helmets while driving, which vary by state and county. Roland took the time to research the TCA and discovered t...hat while the vehicles have been given a specific category of motor vehicles that there really is no specific interpretation of the helmet laws which can vary depending on law enforcements’ understanding of a vague and ambiguous law. Autocycles have seat belts, roll bars, roll cages for the sides and are completely street legal – they are no different than that of a convertible or a street legal dune buggy and drivers are not required to have a “motorcycle” endorsement on their driver’s licenses to drive them! It seems we need to get one of our local legislators to sponsor and pass a bill deeming these vehicles as that no different than that belonging to the same class and requirements (and risk) of two wheel vehicles with no safety protections in the event of an accident. Good job, Roland Mumford and thank you for taking the time to assist with trying to clarify something that is still foggy for this up and coming type of recreational road vehicle.
