This was a high publicity case where 4 women were arrested as alleged "madams" of a large scale prostitution ring by H.E.A.T. (Human Trafficking Unit). Mr. Kent and the co-defendants attorneys were able to work together in this case to reach a truly magnificent result. After nearly 6 years of litigation, the matter was resolved for a single felony count, and no custody time. Mr. Kent was hired to assist a client that had no criminal record, but became involved in a serious road rage incident. Client had become so frustrated that he chased the victim for miles in his vehicl ... e, cornering the victim in a cup de sac. Client got out of his car and a confrontation ensued wherein Client punched the victim several times resulting in the victim suffering a broken occipital lobe and nose. Mr. Kent had immediately refer the client to counseling, and began anger management classes. After much hard work, the matter was resolved for no jail time in custody - only electric confinement allowing the client to keep his job, and the ability to earn a misdemeanor!

OUTCOME: Probation! 6 months Jail and 6 months Outpatient Rehab!

Client was charged in 3 separate felony matters alleging: 1) Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person and Possession of Narcotics; 2) Assault with a Deadly Weapon; and, 3) Assault with a Deadly W ... eapon, and Possession of Narcotics for Purposes of Sales. The 5 misdemeanor cases involved possession of drugs, brandishing a weapon, assault and battery. After over a year of litigating the case, Mr. Kent was able to work out a tremendous result for the client. Although the government was adamant the defendant should go to prison for several years, ultimately, the defendant pled to 2 felony cases, and 2 misdemeanor cases, with the other 4 misdemeanor cases being dismissed. The sentence was to probation, 180 days in jail and a 180 day outpatient rehabilitation program. Client and his family were very pleased!

Client was in an altercation with the victim which resulted in the victim losing part of his finger. Client was originally charged with mayhem which mandates state prison and is a lifetime felony. This ... incident was unfortunately all caught on video. Mr. Kent was able to prepare mitigation and convince the prosecutor to dismiss the mayhem charge and allow Client to plead to an assault charge which would allow for probation and the ability to reduce the charge to a misdemeanor upon successful completion of probation!

This matter was referred to Mr. Kent by a Deputy District Attorney in an adjacent county. Unfortunately, the client initially hired a less expensive firm to represent him, and somehow the court date wa ... s missed. The client returned to The Kent Law Firm, APC and hired Mr. Kent to get involved in the matter. Mr. Kent immediately noticed an apparent due process and speedy trial violation. Mr Kent prepared and filed the appropriate motion to dismiss. After arguments on the motion, the judge agreed with Mr. Kent and the case was dismissed!

People v. A.F. - 5th Lifetime and 3rd Felony DUI!

OUTCOME: No Custody Time and No Fines!!!

Client retained Mr. Kent to assist him in a complex 3rd felony DUI with an accident. Client had previously served a 6 year term in prison for his prior DUI. This DUI involved a 0.305% (Nearly 4 times t ... he legal limit) blood alcohol level along with impairing drugs in client's system. Mr. Kent proactively advised the client to enroll voluntarily in the SCRAM (SubCutaneous Random Alcohol Monitor) Program to be able to prove that the client was no longer drinking. Similarly, Mr. Kent had client get in contact with his psychiatrist to work out a treatment program and to balance out the client's medications. Mr. Kent had also wanted client to start seeing a therapist weekly in additional to his 4 AA's per week. The client was initially very reluctant to go to therapy, but eventually followed Mr. Kent's advice and has stated this counselor has absolutely changed his life! After the case was filed, Mr. Kent was able to get the court to order client in to SCRAMx, which is a combination of the aforementioned SCRAM Program, along with Electronic Monitoring. This not only allowed the client to continue to work to support client's family, but also allowed client to earn day-for-day jail credits while in the SCRAMx Program. The case was ultimately resolved for a state prison sentence, but client never had to serve a day in custody, as the credits from the SCRAMx Program credited his entire sentence! The client is still employed, supporting his family, and on a healthy road to longterm recovery!

When client came to see Mr. Kent, his prior attorney and advised that he accept a state prison plea. Client had spent about 180 days in jail prior to posting bond we he came to see Mr. Kent. Although h ... e was facing 9 years in prison for the twenty (20) pounds of methamphetamine found in his vehicle that he was driving, Mr. Kent was able to resolve the case for probation, and no additional jail time!
