Meeting new people, coming up with innovative ideas, and offering reasonable solutions to problems are my passions. A good friend of mine and fellow lawyer calls me a "Reniassance Man" because I have unique interests and hobbies which include raising pastured beef cattle, flying airplanes and drones, learning and speaking about legal technology, working with my hands, making knives, and operating heavy equipment. I don't consider myself anything but lucky to be able to meet new and interesting people and engage in activities that challenge my mind and dexterity.
Part of what I like about practicing law is learning what drives people, what they do, and what they have been through that has brought them to an attorney. I cautioned an associate who used to work for me to not get so wrapped up in the legal affairs of clients that he lost sight of who the clients really are and I challenged him to learn something personal about every client. I believe the more life experiences you have to draw upon the more solutions to problems you can come up with.
