I was terrified but now I feel so much relief!

I have been paying whatever I could to my creditors for years and after ten years of working to pay off one hospital bill I finally decided to consider bankruptcy. I was being sued by another creditor and I figured if I was going to pay somebody, it might as well be an attorney and get all my debts h...andled. I was scared to death of filing bankruptcy. I heard they could take your cars, make you get a second job, that the attorneys were expensive and just kept charging more and more money (this is not unsubstantiated rumors, my sister filed in another state and paid her attorney almost $3,000 before her bankruptcy was actually filed by a second attorney she had to pay more than a year after the first had taken her money) and I was worried that I wouldn't be able to afford bankruptcy. Less than a month after my first meeting with Mr. Slover, I had my court hearing for Chapter 7 and I was officially debt free. His services cost $500 less than one of the other attorneys I had consulted and $300 less than another. His office staff was professional but so nice, they called to remind me when my paperwork was due and were always available to answer my questions ( I had a lot of questions, I did not know so much paperwork was involved). Also, a friend of mine filed bankruptcy right before me with another firm, she had to do a bunch of things that Mr. Slover and his staff handled for me so I think I definitely got the best service for the best price. I do not plan on ever filing bankruptcy again but if I ever need assistance, Mr. Slover will be the first call I make.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
