Samuel G McKerall was born and raised in Birmingham. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1971. He practiced law in Birmingham with the law firm of Johnston & Shores, from 1971 to 1975, where he specialized in complex civil litigation, with an active trial and appellate practice. He moved to South Baldwin County in 1975, where he has maintained a rich and varied general practice involving civil and criminal trials and appeals in state and federal courts. In addition he is experienced in real estate matters, domestic relations, juvenile matters, wills and estates.
Admitted to practice before the Supreme Courts of Alabama and the United States, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Alabama and the Northern District of Georgia.
