OUTCOME: U. S. Circuit Court for the First Circuit affirmed trial court's findings andorders that plaintiff was fired in violation of his First Amendment rights and ordering restitution, back pay, compensatory and punitive damages to be paid by defendants.
I represented plaintiff fired from broadcasting position as station director at government owned TV and Radio station in suit claiming he was improperly filed based on political motivations.
OUTCOME: Case remanded in part in favor of appellants
I represented appellants in suit against the then governor of Puerto Rico for violation of plaintiff's civil rights in illegal firings.
OUTCOME: Rulings in favor of clients as well as several settlements
Won several cases in US District and US Court of Appeals involving civil rights violations. Obtained signifcant amounts of money, including backpay, restitution of government jobs, and compensatory, as ... well as punitive damages, for plaintiff clients. These cases involved a significant amount of work and preparation, extensive discovery and in many of them, preparation of briefs, as appellant or appellee counsel, before US Circuit Court of Appeals, as well as preparing for and conducting oral argument before the Circuit Court, sitting both in panel and en banc.
