Cases where companies have designed or made products which have dangerous defects that cause catastrophic injuries. Examples include vehicle tires that suffer tread separations, explosive devices that blow up spontaneously, vehicle passenger compartments which are not crashworthy, unstable SUVs and ATVs that rollover because of high centers of gravity, vehicles with roofs that fail, farm equipment without roll over protective systems, and unguarded machines that cause amputations.

Collisions with 18 wheelers based on traffic law violations, faulty maintenance, violations of the Hours of Service Regulations, violations of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, driving under the influence, speeding, falling asleep at the wheel, negligent hiring or retention of careless drivers, and/or crossing into oncoming traffic.
