Generally 180 days is appropriate. However, if no interview by statute you may file for a work permit.

Your I-130 status will not be affeted if you apply for health insurance which requires subsidy.

Technically your B-1 status will remain valid so long as your I-129 is pending. If denied your status will effect you retroactively as of the date...
